  • Dana Gerson Unger was born in Boston, but moved several times, spending parts of her childhood in Colorado, California and Florida. She graduated from Syracuse University, and after a career as a senior buyer for Filene's Basement, is now a stay-at-home mother with her husband and two children.

In addition to her work with the Friends of Dana-Farber, Dana's volunteer activities are extensive. She is a development committee member of the Brain Tumor Society and co-chaired its 2004 through 2007 galas. From 2005 to 2006 she served as a committee member for Reach Out and Read, was co-chair of Jewish Family Services' 2007 auction and was a committee member of the Rose Fund from 2006 to 2007.

Dana's direct involvement with the Friends of Dana-Farber stemmed from her friendship with Suzanne Bloomberg. In addition to her active involvement on the Friends' Board, Dana has co-chaired the highly successful Saks Key to the Cure Event for the past three years.

Dana said, "I think that the Friends of Dana-Farber is a wonderful group of people who truly care about the patients in Dana-Farber and are committed to help raising funds to support research that will eventually result in a cure for cancer."
