Two Dana-Farber Cancer Institute faculty members are inductees of the 2018 Giants of Cancer Care® recognition program.

Bruce Johnson, MD, Chief Clinical Research Officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Judy Garber, MD, MPH, director of the Center for Cancer Genetics and Prevention at Dana-Farber, are among the 21 inductees who are respected healthcare professionals advancing the field of oncology by their contributions in research and clinical practice. The inductees will be recognized at a celebration in May in Chicago.

Nominated by the oncology community, finalists are selected by a seven-member advisory board of world-renowned oncologists. The finalists in each category are then voted on by a 100-plus member selection committee comprising the nation's leading physicians in oncology.

Johnson, a noted lung cancer physician, leads the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Lung Cancer Program and has served as the President of American Society of Clinical Oncology for this past year.

Garber, a breast oncologist, also practices within Dana-Farber’s Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers. She established the Cancer Risk and Prevention Clinic at Dana-Farber, the first program of its kind. Garber has led studies of epidemiology, cancer surveillance, cancer genetics service delivery, and chemoprevention in hereditary cancers.  She is a past president of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and was elected into the National Academy of Medicine in 2013. She also serves as the Chair of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) Scientific Advisory Board.
