Medicinal Chemistry
The development of new pharmacologic agents requires extensive explorations of the chemical space to transform an initial hit compound into a potent and selective chemical probe, or optimize it into a chemical entity with desirable drug-like properties.
Our medicinal chemistry faculty and the Medicinal Chemistry Core have substantial expertise in performing medicinal chemistry campaigns. The Core is led and supported by staff scientists and is an essential resource for Dana-Farber.
Several labs in the program have major medicinal chemistry projects and/or interests:
- The Buhrlage Lab is focusing on inhibitors of deubiquitylating enzymes (DUBs).
- The Qi Lab is developing small molecules and degraders for epigenetic targets.
- The Medicinal Chemistry Core is providing assistance with all chemistry-related needs of the program and the Institute.
