  • Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center offers a variety of educational seminars and support groups to help adult patients and their families find tools to regain a sense of control over their lives.

    Our support groups, which are geared to specific cancers and methods of treatment, give patients the opportunity to meet and share information and moral support. Our experienced, compassionate staff facilitates and guides discussion.

    Presented in small-group settings to encourage questions and in-depth discussion, our seminars allow patients to:

    • Explore the role of spirituality in illness
    • Discover ways to eat better
    • Practice relaxation techniques
    • Learn to integrate exercise into treatment and follow-up care

  • Advanced Support Groups

    Provides support for patients with advanced or metastatic cancer treated in the following clinics:

    • Cutaneous
    • Gastrointestinal
    • Genitourinary
    • Head and Neck
    • Neuro-oncology
    • Sarcoma
    • Thoracic
    Family Bereavement Support Group

    Support for family members who have lost a family member in the last year.

    Spouse/Partner Bereavement Support Group

    Support for spouses and/or partners who have lost a loved one in the last year.

    Brain Tumor Support Group

    Support for brain tumor patients and their caregivers.

    Cancer to Health Support Group

    Through this 8-session group, newly diagnosed cancer patients will learn strategies to manage stress, ways to lessen the impact of physical symptoms of cancer, and coping skills.

    Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Tumor Seminar and Support Group

    Two-part sessions offering an informational seminar for patients and families, followed by a support group for patients and a separate concurrent support session for family.

    Caregivers Support Group

    Support for caregivers and family members of cancer patients.

    Circle of Life/Círculo de Vida: Support Group in Spanish for Women with Cancer

    Support for women Spanish-speaking patients with all cancer diagnoses. Círculo de Vida es un grupo de apoyo para mujeres latinas con cáncer.

    Facing Forward after Breast Cancer Treatment

    Support for breast cancer patients who will complete treatment in four to six weeks or who have completed treatment within the past three to four months.

    Living with Gynecologic Cancer Support Group

    Support for patients currently diagnosed with gynecologic cancer.

    Lung Cancer Support Group

    Open support group for patients being treated for lung cancer.

    Lymphoma Support Group

    A group for patients diagnosed with any lymphoma and their caregivers. This is a chance to meet others and share experience, comfort, and support.

    Melanoma Support Group

    Support group for New England area patients dealing with melanoma.

    Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Group

    Support for patients currently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.

    Multiple Myeloma Support Group

    Support group for patients with multiple myeloma.

    Post-Transplant Support Group

    Support group for patients who have had an allogeneic stem cell transplant within the last one to three years.

    Prostate Cancer Support Group

    The Prostate Health Education Network focuses on the needs of black men diagnosed with prostate cancer.

    Sarcoma Support Group

    Support for patients and family members dealing with sarcoma.

    Support and Stress Management Group for Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients

    Support for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.

    Waldenstrõm’s Macroglobulinemia Support Group

    Open to all Waldenstrõm’s patients and families in New England, regardless of where treatment is received.

    Young Adult Support Group

    Support for patients aged 18-40 who are currently in treatment or have recently completed treatment.

    Young Adults with Breast Cancer Phone Support Group

    Young and Strong, the program for young adults with breast cancer, hosts telephone support groups twice a year. During these calls you will have the opportunity to connect with others who understand the impact of living with breast cancer.
